Broad City, a web series about Jacobson and Glazer’s life in New York, was written and performed by Jacobson and Glazer. The series received an ECNY Award nomination for Best Web Series. It received positive reviews from critics and developed a cult following. Jacobson and Glazer adapted the series for a live show in the Upright Citizens Brigade called Broad City Live. FX purchased a script commitment to the series from Glazer and Jacobson in 2011, with Amy Poehler serving as producer. However, the network rejected the script and decided not to move forward with development.
