  • During one of his interviews, Abhishek Chatterjee revealed that despite being the lead actor of Tollywood in the 90s, he did not get any work in the industry and due to this he experienced depression. He attributed his condition to actors Prosenjit Chatterjee and Rituparna Sengupta. He said,

Prosenjit Chatterjee, Rituparna Sengupta! In ’96 – ’98, they formed an alliance and made me out of about 30-32 pictures. At that time I was number one in Tollywood. I didn’t have any work for almost a year. I sat down and went into depression. After a few years I joined the Yatra. After that communication with the industry was cut off completely. Then I heard people say, ‘Abhishek is over’. It would be hard to hear all this. But I was convinced.”

    she added,

I have always been Prosenjit’s main opponent. I noticed several times that he was making some noise. But I always thought of him as a friend. That’s why I didn’t take any serious steps. And I said some things about Rituparna in an interview, which she did not like. After that he decided not to work with me. Swapnada (Saha) told me, you settle the matter. But I didn’t do anything wrong, so the question of apologizing doesn’t arise. After that I started the journey.”
