Controversy

fight with traffic police constable

Reportedly, Aryan Vaid had an argument in 2015 with a traffic police constable named Satish Mhatre, who was asked to take a breath analyzer test twice in a used kit tube. According to sources, on Sunday, May 30, 2015, at around 11.30 am, the traffic police stopped Aryan’s car at Juhu circle and asked him to undergo a breath analyzer test. However, Vaid requested the constable to provide a new kit tube over hygiene concerns. Officials claimed that no new tubes were available at that time. The video of this debate was shared by Aryan on the media. Aryan Vaid lodged a complaint against the police constable on 1 June 2015, claiming that he was forced to take a breath test in a used kit and was verbally abused by the constable. Following Aryan Vaid’s FIR, Satish Mhatre also filed a complaint against Aryan for arguing and using foul language with him. Milind Bharambe, the then Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), defended Mhatre and said that Aryan dragged the case even after saying that the kit was clean. Milind Bharambe said,

There have been cases where the pipe, which costs Rs 4, was not replaced. I have instructed all traffic boards to install new pipes. But Vaid’s case is different. He knew that he was not driving under the influence of alcohol and yet got into an argument with the constable and used abusive language. The constable told him that the pipe was clean, but Vaid did not listen and escalated the matter.

After the case, NCP MLA Rahul Narvekar wrote a letter to the Chief Minister demanding directions regarding the correct use of the breath analyzer kit.
