Campbell Wilson was born on 1971 (age 50 years; by 2021) in New Zealand. In 1996, Campbell Wilson began his career as a management trainee by joining Singapore Airlines (SIA) in Auckland, New Zealand. In 2006, he was appointed as the Vice President of Airlines in Canada. He held this position for two years after which he was promoted to the position of General Manager of Hong Kong. In 2010 he was appointed to lead Singapore Airlines’ operations in Japan. In 2011 he took over as CEO at Scoot, the low-cost carrier of the Singapore Airlines Group.
After a few months, Campbell Scooters came up with the budget carrier and left in June 2016. Thereafter, he worked as SIA’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, where he handled Pricing, Distribution, Merchandise, eCommerce, Global Sales, Branding. , and marketing in the overseas office of SIA. In April 2020, he returned to take over as the CEO of the airline. In May 2022, he again resigned from Scoot and was appointed as the CEO of Air India by the Board of Directors. Earlier, the board of Tata Sons had appointed former Turkish Airlines chairman Ilkar I as the new CEO of Air India, but he turned down the offer a few weeks later, giving Campbell Wilson the opportunity.
Campbell was appointed as the MD and CEO of Air India on 12 May 2022. Mr. N Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Sons spoke about the decision and said,
