With skill in tug of war, Harjinder decided to participate in weightlifting competitions.

Harjinder Kaur started her professional training in weightlifting in 2016 under the guidance of her coach Paramjit Sharma. In 2017, she competed in a state level weightlifting champion and won it. In 2020, she participated in the 3rd Women’s Inter-State Senior National Weightlifting Competition and won a gold medal there. In the same year, she participated in the 35th Women’s Senior National Weightlifting Championship. Won silver medal in the competition. Then, in 2021, he was introduced to the national camp in Patiala. Subsequently, in 2022, she participated in senior national competitions in Orissa by lifting a total of 208 kg and won a gold medal in the weightlifting competition.

On 1 August 2022 she participated in the Commonwealth Games under the 71kg category. Won bronze medal in the competition. In an interview, he expressed his gratitude for winning the bronze medal in the Commonwealth Games and said,

When I started in 2016, I did not get any financial support from my family, but my family has supported me morally. My coach Paramjit Sharma helped me a lot in those days and he was confident that I would get the medal today and his faith, I think, gave me my medal.
