Harkamal Ranu was arrested by Bathinda Police on 10 June 2022 in connection with the murder of Punjabi singer-politician Sidhu Moose Wala. Sidhu Moose Wala was killed by eight sharpshooters in Punjab’s Mansa district on 29 May 2022. He was on his way to a relative’s house in a Mahindra Thar SUV when he was stopped by two other vehicles. The attackers got down and opened fire on him. He was killed about 30 times. Sidhu Moose Wala was taken to Mansa Civil Hospital, where doctors confirmed his death. Soon after the incident, Canadian dacoit Satinder Singh alias Goldie Brar of Punjabi descent claimed responsibility for the murder. Police departments of many states are working to expose the conspiracy. Ranu is suspected to be one of the eight sharpshooters involved in the murder of the Punjabi singer. His grandfather handed him over to the police in connection with his connection in the murder case. Talking about them he said,
Before handing him over to the police, I spoke to Harkamal, but he has denied any wrongdoing and involvement in the crime.”
A member of the SIT told the media about the arrest. he said,
So far, the SIT has identified four shooters, but it is not yet known how many of them were there as no one to confirm the count has been arrested yet. It could be 8-10.”
Meanwhile, a Red Corner Notice (RCN) has been issued for Satinderjit Singh alias Goldy Brar, a Canadian-based criminal wanted in Musewala’s death. According to the Punjab Police, many important clues have been found in the investigation of Moosewala’s murder. The killers have been identified. By which route the killers went and how they escaped, it has also been known. Complete information has been received about it. Manpreet Manu and Jagroop Singh Roopa of Tarn Taran, Harkamal alias Ranu of Bathinda, Priyavrata Fauji and Manjit Bholu of Sonepat, Saurav Mahakal and Santosh Jadhav from Pune in Maharashtra and Subhash Banoda of Sikar in Rajasthan have been identified as shooters. All these shooters have been photographed. Punjab Police suspects that the same shooters killed Sidhu Moose Wala in Mansa. Three days ago, all these shooters had gathered on the Kotkapura road. According to the police, all the shooters are members of Lawrence Bishnoi gang. In order to find these shooters, the Punjab Police has called the police of the respective states and sought their help. Ranu is facing 11 criminal charges and has earlier escaped from police custody. After being released from prison after five years, he was again detained on charges of the Arms Act in January and released on bail in April 2022.
