In an interview, Kathir discussed his role in the film and said,
When I heard about PP, I voluntarily approached director Mari Selvaraj, and she felt that I would be a good fit for the lead role. An actor needs space to prove his mettle and PP has created that space and given me an opportunity to perform. Even while listening to the script, I knew that I would have to work very hard to build my physical and mental stamina. I was ready for it. We shot for 45 days in the scorching sun in Tirunelveli, and Mari would shoot sequences that involved running, jumping, falling down and then running continuously for two and a half hours. Even to find shelter, you have to walk a mile. ,
In 2019, Kathir appeared in four films; Sigai as Mathivanan, Sathru as SI Kathiresan, Bigil as Kathir, and Jada as Jada.
