Conflict Accused by UP Police – on a complaint by News18 journalist Deep Srivastava – for allegedly defamatory posts: Reportedly, Deep Srivastava filed a complaint against Nidhi Suresh after registering a case about a Hindu woman from Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh who converted to Islam and adopted the name Ayesha Alvi. According to sources, Ayesha claimed that her decision to convert to Islam is being opposed by the media. Further, he said that he was receiving threatening calls from a specific number and that the stranger extorted money from him. After this incident, Ayesha Alvi filed a petition in the Delhi High Court. The petition states,
“The first mobile call I got was from 063 ******** and when he came he threatened that he would publish news about my conversion and I would be arrested and he demanded money from me And when we refused, he threatened again. After that he forcibly took 20 thousand rupees from us.” All these claims were mentioned in the Nidhi report. According to media outlets, when Nidhi tried to contact the person making the threat, the receiver described himself as Deep Srivastava, a reporter for News18, though Deep Srivastava denied the allegations and extorted money from Ayesha Alvi. refused to receive.
