Whitesell was employed by Intertalent. He worked as an agent for United Talent Agency from 1992 to 1995. (UTA). Whitesell was head of the talent department at Creative Artists Agency (CAA). Whitesell began his professional career as a mail clerk at the talent agency Intertalent. During his two years with InterTalent, he progressed from the mail room to agency positions and then to United Talent Agency. Two years later, he left United to join the Creative Artists Agency, where he remained for the next five years. He rose through the ranks of Creative Artist from agent to head of the talent department. Patrick started working for Endeavor Talent Agency in 2001. He would later be instrumental in the successful merger of the agency.
He shared the CEO position with Ari Emanuel. WME-IMG was founded in 2013 by Christian Bale, Kate Beckinsale, Ellen Page, Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Garner, Denzel Washington and Jessica Morris for $2.4 billion. With the help of private equity firm Silver Lake, the company acquired IMG. Following the completion of the acquisition, Silver Lake received a 51% stake in the new mega-agency. Emmanuel, Ari Patrick Whitesell and their original partners retained 47% of the equity. The current market capitalization of WME is estimated at $10 billion. At that valuation, Patrick’s equity alone is worth $400 million before taxes.
