, Allegation of wrongly implicating Nambi Narayanan: In 1994, a case was registered by the Intelligence Bureau (IB) Nambi Narayanan Two Malaysian spies named Mariam Rashida and Fusia Hassan, in exchange for a sexual relationship with the two, for providing confidential information about the under-development development rocket. After a nationwide uproar over the issue, the Indian government decided to hand over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). In 1997, the CBI submitted its report to the Supreme Court. In its report, it said that the case against Nambi was false as it was missing important facts. For example, as per the report filed by the Intelligence Bureau, the location of the suspect did not match the actual location of the accused on the day the alleged conspiratorial meeting took place. Owing to these facts, which were put forward by the CBI, the Supreme Court in 1998 ruled in favor of Nambi and ordered the Kerala government to pay a compensation of Rs 50 lakh. Nambi Narayanan, The Supreme Court ordered the Kerala government to crack down on the conspirators in the Kerala Police as well as the Intelligence Bureau. In 2014, RB Sreekumar, who was deputy director of IB in 1994, was accused of Nambi Narayanan Accused of falsely implicating his name in ISRO espionage case. She further alleged that she was tortured mentally and physically, so that Nambi could be forced to give a videotaped confession. In his statement officially recorded by the CBI, Nambi said,
“When Sreekumar was the commandant in VSSC, he requested me to appoint his niece or nephew to a post in Thumba, but he could not be selected as the process was fair. Then Sreekumar went to my office to express his anger. On which I told him to go out or else I will call the police. Sreekumar had said that I will regret it in future.’
Siby Mathews, who was the Kerala Police chief in 1994, also accused Sreekumar of forcing him to file a false espionage complaint against the former ISRO scientist. Nambi Narayanan, RB Sreekumar, in his defence, told the CBI that he was not directly involved in the interrogation of Nambi, and had only interrogated two Malaysian spies for two days.

, Accused of obtaining false evidence against PM in Supreme Court: When the Supreme Court dismissed a joint petition filed by RB Sreekumar in June 2022, Teesta Setalvadi (along with CJP), and Zakia Jafri, Gujarat Police’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) arrested Sreekumar and Teesta Setalvad on charges of producing false evidence against the Prime Minister in court. Later Nambi Narayanan Upon learning of RB Sreekumar’s arrest, he said that Sreekumar had followed a similar plan against him, implicating him in a false ISRO espionage case. In an interview, Nambi revealed,
“I learned that he was arrested today for trying to fabricate stories and sensationalize them, there was a charge against him. That’s exactly what he did in my case. Our system is such that any loose statement can give and get away from him. I am very happy to know that he has been arrested because everything has a limit and he is crossing all limits in terms of decency.”
