Robbie started his career in the year 1979 with the television show Play for Today, where he played the role of Jimmy. The following year, he also appeared in films such as Flash Gordon, and Death Watch, followed by Subway Rider where he played a crime detective.

In 2001, he became popular worldwide with his character of Rubus Hagrid in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, a fictional film on wizarding education, which was directed by Chris Columbus.
