Sonali Kulkarni is an Indian actress who works in Hindi and Marathi film industry. She is best known for her Lavani dance number Apsara Ali in the Marathi film Natrang. Sonali made her film debut with Kedar Shinde’s Bakula Namdev Ghotle, for which she received the Zee Gaurav Award for Best Actress. In 2014, she co-starred with Swapnil Joshi and Prarthana Behere in Mitwa, for which she received a Zee Gaurav Award nomination for Best Actress.
Birth and early life
Sonali Kulkarni was born on 18 May 1988 in the Army Cantonment of Khadki near Pune, Maharashtra to Manohar and Savinder Kulkarni. His father is a retired army doctor, who has worked in the Army Medical Center for 30 years. His mother has worked for the COD on Dehu Road. Sonali has a younger brother who runs Fledgers Event Company.
Sonali attended Army School and Kendriya Vidyalaya 1 before graduating with degrees in Mass Communication and Media from Ferguson College, Pune. He has also done Post Graduate Diploma in Public Communication from Indira School of Communication.

Sonali was cast as a Kathak dancer in Marathi daily soap Ha Khel Sanchitcha along with famous Marathi actor Vikram Gokhale. During the shooting, she was offered her first Marathi film, Gadhvache Lagan, in which she appeared in the song Indra Darbari Nache Sundari. She was later cast as the lead actress in Kedar Shinde’s Bakula Namdev Ghotle.
In 2010, Sonali appeared in Ravi Jadhav directed film Natrang. The film was a huge success and received positive response from the audience. She played the role of Naina Kolhapurkarin, the lead dancer of a theater troupe. Sonali appeared in the critically acclaimed film Ajanta, as well as in another multi-star film Kshanbhar Vishranti, alongside Bharat Jadhav, Hemant Dhome, Sachin Patil and Manav Naik. As a result, she got an opportunity to play important roles in Bollywood movies like Grand Masti, Singham Returns, Poshter Girl, Classmates, Timepass 2 etc.
