He did his schooling from Arya Vidya Mandir, Mumbai. He then studied Advertising/PR at Usha Praveen Gandhi College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Mumbai. Sushant did his Master of Arts in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Mithibai College of Arts, Chauhan Institute of Science and Amritben Jeevanlal College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai. I am also Shiva and Shakti and the synergy of both the energies. This is different from my orientation. I will always be attracted to men. It’s just that my gender identity isn’t just male! I am a non-binary person! I feel relieved.”

In an interview, Sushant had told that he had three boyfriends. One of her boyfriends was a businessman from South Africa. They first met at a gay beauty pageant. Reportedly, she was offered to participate in the TV celebrity dance show ‘Nach Baliye’. As of 2021, she is single.

Sushant had not taken any formal training in singing. In his teens, he used to practice Asha BhosleThe song ‘Piya Tu Ab To Aaja’ from the Hindi film ‘Caravan’ (1971). In 2020, he released his independent single ‘Diamond’.

In 2015, she performed for the first time in ‘Merchant of Venice’, a theater play directed by Vikram Kapadia. He then hosted some drag shows and shows at national and international film festivals. At one of his drag events, he was spotted by Indian entrepreneur Ishaan Sethi, who talked about Sushant along with Keshav Suri, executive director of Lalit Hospitality Group. In 2017, Suri invited Sushant to perform with drag queen Violet Chachi at his nightclub Kittisoo in New Delhi. Sushant’s performance was liked by the audience and after that Sushant decided to adopt the drag queen avatar Rani Ko-He-Noor.

In an interview, when asked how her interest in becoming a drag queen developed, she said that since childhood she was interested in dressing up as a woman. he/she said,
As a kid, I always loved to dress up. I have always been passionate about makeup, accessories and fabulous costumes. I used to participate in fancy dress competitions and always dressed like a mermaid or Madhuri Dixit; One time I even dressed as Tina Turner. I always enjoyed playing female characters because they had so much depth and character. But at the time, I never knew what drag was. As I got older, I started reading about it and seeing other drag artists from all over the world and I knew this is what I wanted to do!

I made this avatar because I wanted people to understand that drag is a performance art, and it’s not just cross dressing. I am gender fluid, hence the name, because the queen is the queen but in Ko-he-noor she is. In drag, a man – gay, straight, transgender or bisexual – can perform as a woman in a predominantly feminine form of clothing, exaggerated makeup, and wigs. Drag can also be performed by women – lesbian, straight, trans or bisexual – who dress up and perform as male characters. Sushant is the first Indian drag queen to perform with global media company Condé Nast. She has also performed as ‘Rani Kohenoor’ or ‘Rani Ko-hee-noor’ in various Indian TV shows, stage shows and live events. In 2021, she participated in the drag queen singing television series ‘Queen of the Universe’. On the show, she sang songs like “Piya Tu Ab To Aaj”, “Laila Main Laila,” and “My Heart Will Go On”.

In her various interviews, she has talked about providing rights to the LGBTQ community. In one of his interviews, Sushant said,
I consider Hijra Prateek Gauri Sawant, Laxmi Narayan Tripathi and many others as my spiritual mentors. I don’t need to be from their community to feel a family bond with them. Being a part of this community, that’s the beauty of it. When I talk about minorities, I tend to talk about eunuchs, dalits as well as sexual, gender and even religious people, because our struggles intertwine. Why do we have to demand equal rights in a democracy?
