NCCL does relief work all over Gujarat. On 21 November 2014, it started another project named ‘Rainbow Hills’ from Vanaj village in Sabarkantha district of Gujarat. The objective of this project is to rebuild/repair and modernize tribal houses in the picturesque Adivasi Vanaj village situated on a small hill facing a huge lake. The tribals built 12 selected houses in Vanaj using clay for the walls and local wood for the roof. Those rotting and dusty houses were unfit for human habitation. NCCL completed the repair and reconstruction of these 12 houses in a record time of three months. Repairs to other structures including walls, floors, roofs, verandahs and toilets were completed as part of the programme, with the aim of providing basic amenities to the underprivileged tribals while preserving their culture, customs and environment. These tribals were also encouraged to rent a room in these renovated residences to encourage tourists to supplement their income.
