First, he met Mosum Parikh, a 30-year-old Gujarati girl from Brooklyn who had a degree in finance. Vinesh and her family decide to meet Mosum and after having similar views about the parents’ relationship, career and family, they approve Vinesh and Mosum to go on a date with their brother and sister-in-law. At the end of the date, Mosum felt connected to her and wanted to take the conversation forward, but Vignesh didn’t. However, by the end of the date, he took her number, telling her family that he was not physically attracted to her. He was even trolled on social media for his rude and judgmental behaviour.
The other girl he met was Meena Rai, a nurse. Vinesh felt a connection with her from the very beginning, but she did not show any interest in him and did not want to have a relationship with her. After hearing her confession, she felt as though her heart was being stabbed with a plastic knife. Some fans said it was coming after what they did to Mossum. In an interview when he was asked why he decided to appear in the second season of Indian Matchmaking. he said,
I’ve tried a lot of apps, meeting girls at bars, etc and nothing I’ve tried in the past has given me long-term success. I watched the show and was quite curious – looking at Seema Aunty’s track record, I thought it would be fruitful to give it a shot and take it as a life-changing adventure. I’m single and ready to try new things – my goal is to find a wife and potentially start a family if she’s open to it. Also, I am challenging myself to take on new experiences and if something feels exciting and new but a little scary, if I have the potential, I would like to say yes.
When asked how is his experience on the show and would he like to return to the show in the next season, he replied,
It was nerve-wracking. Obviously something I’ve never done before. But it was an incredible experience. I don’t know if I’ll move on – I’ll have to talk to my family and think about it. Taking a very personal journey “open to the public eye” like this is a bit scary. But working with all the people on this show was incredible — definitely the friendship of a lifetime (even if it wasn’t what I was looking for). I promised myself I’d be as authentic as possible, but a lot of panic could overwhelm and I was a little camera-shy. I think I laughed a lot on the show which is part of my personality, but it was way too much out of the ordinary and a lot of it was trying to take away the anxiety. I said “LIKE” a lot, which of course means I wasn’t as comfortable as I’d like… (LIKE) I had a huge camera in my face! It’s hard to hear yourself on a Zoom call, much less on the Watch and on the TV itself. So I may have calmed myself a little more with my meditation practice before going on air.”
